Hi, I'm Carmen.
I'm an experienced instructional designer with a strong background as a K-12 educator and professor. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills by collaborating with diverse clients across industries such as construction, non-profit, residential housing, higher education, and software, creating learner-focused content tailored to their specific needs.
I leverage the ADDIE model to design and develop impactful instructional solutions, with a focus on clear outcomes and measurable results. My expertise includes storyboarding, scriptwriting (for video/audio), and using tools like Articulate Storyline, Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, Canva, and Vyond to build dynamic, multimedia-rich learning experiences.
What sets me apart is my deep empathy for learners, my ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, and my commitment to collaboration. I am dedicated to designing inclusive learning experiences that reflect cultural sensitivity and meet the needs of diverse learners. I'm always eager to take on new challenges, and I prioritize professional growth. I stay up-to-date with the latest instructional design trends and best practices.

Context: This workshop was part of a series on intercultural communication at an institution of higher education. The goal was to guide professors and instructors in 1) identifying the cultural references and idioms their international students may struggle with in their classes and 2) outlining ways to create more equitable opportunities for international students.
